Get the Rest You Need to Arrive Safely

Rest, quality sleep, and proper nutrition can make the difference between arriving safely and not arriving at all. Here are practical tips to promote responsible driving.

Driver fatigue is one of the leading causes of traffic accidents in Mexico. According to the MAPFRE Foundation, an estimated 20% to 30% of road accidents are linked to driver fatigue.

In addition, data from Mexico's National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) shows that 4,401 people lost their lives at the scene of traffic accidents and 82,466 were injured in urban areas during 2021.

It is also alarming that nearly 40% of drivers do not take rest breaks after driving for more than three consecutive hours.

Tips to Prevent Driver Fatigue

  • Take regular breaks: Stop for at least 15 minutes every two hours of driving.
  • Get enough sleep: Aim for 7 to 8 hours of sleep before starting a long trip.
  • Stay hydrated and eat wisely: Drink plenty of water and avoid heavy meals that can make you feel drowsy.

Remember, your safety and the safety of others depend on responsible driving. Fatigue can be deadly—take a break before you continue your journey.
